Special Occasions
A Special Occasion is a celebration so it is important that you look and feel fantastic! It is something you will look back on and you will have lasting memories in your photographs. There are many Special Occasions such as Proms, Balls, Graduations, Birthdays, Anniversaries, Wedding Guests, Christmas Parties and I have even helped two ladies who were meeting the former Queen!
I have been running my business Makeovers by Melinda since 2000 as a mobile Make-up Artist & Hairstylist specialising in Proms, Weddings and other Special Occasions. Hair and make-up play an important part in your overall appearance so if you are looking for the ‘wow factor’ you may like some help from a professional.
I have a purpose-built Makeover Studio based at my home in Hedge End where I offer a free consultation (if you would like one) which gives us a chance to meet to talk about what sort of look you would like. I also offer the option of a chat over the phone or a video / zoom call. You are welcome to show me any photos of make-up examples and/or hairstyles that you like the look of. If you are thinking about using false eyelashes or hair extensions please let me know. See ‘Extras’ below.
I also offer various beauty treatments to help you prepare for your Special Occasion such as facials or lash tints and brow shaping treatments etc.
If you would like to know how you will look on the ‘big day’ you may like to book a trial however trials are optional and not always necessary.
We will then arrange the time I need to come to you on the day to professionally apply your make-up and/or style your hair so you look and feel fantastic at your Special Occasion.
I am used to making sure your make-up is applied to stay but lip colours always fade over time so I will give you a little pot with some of your lip colour in then you can top up when you need to.

Extras
- Add £10 if you would like me to use your own clip in hair extensions, hair pieces or work with hair extensions already in place.
- Add £10 if you would like me to supply ‘strip lashes’ and also apply them.
- Add £5 if you would like me to apply ‘strip lashes’ that you have brought. You are welcome to discuss with me what type to get.
Please note
- I charge 45p per mile travel costs for single hair or make-ups & less local areas – please enquire with your postcode.
- I ask for any parking charges at venues to be covered.
- A non-refundable deposit may be required.
- When necessary I can arrange another hairstylist or make-up artist to assist me with larger groups.
- Surcharges may apply for early morning or late evening appointments.

Proms

I offer a free consultation (if you would like one) at my home in Hedge End where I have a purpose built Makeover Studio which gives us a chance to meet to talk about what sort of look you would like and what you will be wearing. You are welcome to bring any photos of make-up or hairstyles that you like the look of. I also give the option of a video / Zoom call if necessary.
We can discuss any beauty treatments you may require such as an eyebrow shape. I can also give you some skin care advice if you need some help.
I also work with essential oils and there are some good oils that help with exam worries and concentration so feel free to ask about them.

I am used to making sure your hair is styled to last and make-up applied to stay put. If you are having your make-up done I will give you a little pot with some of your lip colour in so you can top up through the evening.
